Learning Resource Centres
The modern and light Learning Resource Centres (LRC) provide a welcoming and stimulating environment where superb facilities for traditional book and journal study are combined with the latest computer and internet technology. They offer a central learning resource for pupils and staff for all their academic needs as well as extra-curricular activities and recreational reading.
The LRC is available for teachers to take classes during lessons to carry out independent research and group work and it is a popular destination for pupils of all ages before and after school and during morning break and lunchtime. Whilst there is a strong emphasis on ICT resources and subscription databases, pupils are also encouraged to take advantage of the library area of the LRC where a broad range of fiction and non-fiction books are available, covering all aspects of the curriculum and wider areas of interest.
The Year 13 LRC provides a study area for pupils during study periods and is well resourced with 40 PCs, subject specific texts to support wider reading and an extensive range of materials to support pupils through the higher education application process.
