Website Club

Website Club is held every Wednesday at 15.45 until 16.45 in the ‘MFL1 IT Suite’ (Foley Building) and consists of pupils from Years 7, 8, & 9 with a regular attendance of 15-20 members. Middle School pupils who attended regularly in Lower School are also welcome.

Pupils are not expected to have any prior knowledge of web-design or web technologies before taking part in the club as full tutorials are given from the start.

The Club is run by Mr Jones, who tutors and supervises members through each stage of their web development, and offers help and support.

Members enjoy working on their own individual websites on topics of their choice (after approval), and some work together as a team. As they choose their own subject to work on, pupils are enthusiastic, motivated and inspired to produce quality sites. The goal for everyone involved is to have a completed website which is uploaded to the Internet and can be edited and updated.

Websites are developed using the ‘Dreamweaver’ web design software although some prefer more advanced techniques using programs such as ‘Flash’ or coding in the HTML language.

Website Club has a relaxed, fun and friendly atmosphere in which pupils can make friends from other classes and years who they would not normally get a chance to meet. Members help each other and share ideas and skills.

There are several competitions with prizes for the best websites judged by the pupils themselves at the end of the year.
