Light a Light
In 2006, the College launched its’ ‘Light a Light’ campaign in aid of Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY). This has proved to be a great success and several thousands of pounds have been raised to support the vital work that CRY carries out.
In 2008, the College dedicated two Remembrance Trees at the front of College. Those who wished to nominate a loved one purchased a heart that shone throughout the Festive Season. The Remembrance Hearts were made by Year Seven pupils in their Design Technology lessons as part of the DT Curriculum. All monies raised from these nominations went to CRY.
In 2009 the same initiative raised £1005 for CRY, bringing the sum that St Edward's College has raised for CRY to over £14,000.
CRY is a charity founded in May 1995 to raise awareness of Cardiac Risk in the Young – Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD) and Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS, SADS). CRY offers help, support and counselling to families where there has been a sudden cardiac death of an apparently fit and healthy young person. For more information visit the CRY website.
