Dance

Extra curricular Dance at St. Edward’s College offers pupils an alternative and fun exercise combining sporting activity with the expression of Art through performance. Dedication to Dance helps pupils to develop many important qualities and skills such as communication, interaction, group work and commitment.

Dance Club is available for girls of all ages after school on a Monday and during lunch time and after school on a Wednesday. The activity is led by an external Dance teacher and takes place in the College’s state of the art dance studio which is equipped with a professional music system.

Pupils are taught a variety of dance forms, including street dance, hip hop dance and musical theatre dance. They also have the opportunity to choreograph their own work, which requires good organisation and attention to detail. Pupils also develop specific fitness areas, such as coordination, flexibility, balance and stamina.

Pupil’s participation and commitment to Dance is recognised by commendations which are rewarded to those pupils who have shown excellent dedication and who have made outstanding progress in this area.
