Tennis

In the Trinity term, the Astroturf is turned into 12 tennis courts that are available for pupils to use during the school lunchtime and after school on Wednesdays until 17.00. Any pupil from Year 7 to Year 13 is welcome to join in.

Although a member of staff is available to give advice about improving tennis skills, many pupils just want to come out and practise or play a few games against a friend. This allows them to develop their skills at their own pace. By playing doubles against friends they develop good communication skills as well as good teamwork.

In Trinity term 2009, the Year 10 girls won the local league and the Year 8 girls really improved their skills, practised scoring tennis games and enjoyed the whole match experience. The boys also have fixtures with local schools in a small league.

In 2008, pupils enjoyed watching professionals in action during an afternoon of tennis at the Liverpool International Tennis Tournament at Calderstones Park.
