The 16 to 19 Bursary Fund

The 16 to 19 Bursary Fund was introduced in the 2011 to 2012 academic year. Its purpose is to provide financial support to help students overcome specific barriers to participation, so they can remain in education. The 16-19 Bursary Fund is limited and is administered by the school and monies are granted at our discretion. We will prioritise allocation according to personal circumstances and household income.

There are two types of 16 to 19 bursaries:

Vulnerable Bursary

  • care leavers

Or are in the receipt of any of the following benefits:

  • Income Support
  • Universal Credit in place of Income Support
  • Employment Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance
  • Personal Independence Payments in their own right

Students who meet this criteria will be guaranteed a £1,200 bursary made payable termly.* (*based on attendance)

Discretionary Bursary

For students who have a gross annual household income of below £23,000 or were in receipt of Free School Meals in Year 11. These students may be eligible for a contribution towards the cost of transport, meals and funds to cover the cost of essential course equipment and resources and trips.  Evidence of income required from a P60 or Tax Credits form (TC602) or other proof of benefit statement.
