Cathedral Youth Choir

The Cathedral Youth Choir was formed in September 2014. It provides opportunities for former boy and girl choristers (up to Upper Sixth) to continue singing at liturgies and concerts at the Cathedral and also aims to prepare members for further careers and studies in music after their time at the College, such as choral scholarships at university.

The Youth Choir rehearses every week in term time, and is directed by Mr Luxton, the Cathedral’s Assistant Director of Music.

The Youth Choir ordinarily sings for some Sunday evening Masses in the Cathedral Crypt and some weekday 5.15pm Masses in the cathedral. The choir has also enjoyed singing Fauré's Requiem at Holy Cross and St Helen's RC Church, in St Helens, as an annual fixture for the past two Novembers, as well as joining in with the full cathedral choir of boys, girls and men for big feasts and celebrations, such as the annual College Mass.

The Youth Choir also receives requests from corporations and charities around Christmas: a highlight in the calendar for the past two years has been providing music for Rathbones' Carol Service at the Port of Liverpool Building.
