Our school prides itself not only on academic success, but also on creating an ethos with relationships and community at its heart. As part of this, we actively encourage all pupils to get involved in fundraising activities for both local and international charities.
In recent years, we have regularly supported several charities, nominating a chosen charity each term to reap the rewards of any school fundraising activities.Advent Term sees the College supporting Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) with two Trees of Remembrance lit adorned with hearts dedicated to loved ones at the front of the school during the festive season. The College has always been a longstanding supporter of Alder Hey and supports the Teenage Cancer Trust unit at the hospital during Lent Term. Our Edmund Rice Run in Trinity term allows pupils to raise money through their sponsored run to support our sister school Kanvilli RC High School in Tamale, Ghana.
Alongside our nominated charities each term, pupils have recently helped to raise money for the Medaille Trust with a charity staff car wash, donated 'shoeboxes full of love' for local homeless people at Christmas and held several cake sales for various other charities during many a break time.
CAFOD Club holds events each year such as the annual Bake Off, guess the name of the teddy, the sale of candy canes at Christmas and flowers at Valentine's which allowed a fantastic donation of £2,900 in March 2017. Our Faith in Action and Edmund Rice Advocacy Groups lead the many fundraising activities in the College however the introduction of the house system in September 2017 will allow pupils and students a greater say and involvement in charity engagement with each House nominating their chosen charity and holding fundraising events throughout the academic year.
