Bernadette Tierney Charity 'Touch' Sevens
10 September 2011
On Saturday 18 June 2011, St Edward’s Old Boys RUFC held the club's annual Charity 'Touch' Sevens Day. Now in its eighth year, the tournament raised a record £4300 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The tournament is held in memory of Mrs Bernadette Tierney, wife of Old Edwardian Chris Tierney, who was cared for at Marie Curie Cancer Centre in Woolton during her illness.
This year, a record number of teams entered the competition, with a mix of current pupils, Old Edwardians, College staff and even representatives from other schools taking part.
St Edward's Old Boys RUFC has been running a rugby team for over 65 years and still provides a club where Old Edwardians leaving the school can continue to play rugby together.
