Doctorate honour bestowed on OE Colonel Bryson

04 January 2012

Colonel James Graeme 'Paddy' Bryson, who attended the College from 1922 to 1929 and was Chairman of Governors in the 1960s and 1970s, has been made an honorary doctor of law by the University of Liverpool.

During a graduation ceremony which took place just before Christmas, the 98-year-old former High Court Judge added this achievement to a long list of accolades, more than 80 years after he first attended the university as a student.

Colonel Bryson’s incredible career has seen him serve as a soldier, lawyer, judge, academic author and prominent Catholic. Of the many reasons the College has to thank him, one of particular note is his involvement with the College becoming the Choir School to the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral.

The Crosby Herald published an article announcing Colonel Byson's honorary doctorate, in which they make a valiant attempt to summarise his extraordinary life and very many achievements. Click here to read the full article.
