Former pupil contributes to prestigious publication

06 May 2010

An article has been published in the April issue of Biological Sciences Review by Omnia Abdulrazeg (Old Edwardian 2004-2009). This is a great achievement for Omnia who is now a first year Life Sciences student at Manchester University. Biological Sciences Review is one of the core resources for students at AS, A2 and University levels and teachers of the biological sciences.

Omnia’s article entitled ‘The Death Apple’ explores the Manchineel tree, which is regarded as the most poisonous tree in the world. Omnia describes in depth the plant and the chemical reactions that take place to produce these toxins and the various uses of these products by Caribbean natives. The final section goes on to explain the known reactions that contact with this tree can cause to the human population.

On notifying the College of this achievement, Omnia thanked Mrs Manning and Mrs Clarke for the help and support they gave to her whilst she was a pupil.
