Lisa Dalton, 29, delights at her “dream” duet, with Liverpool star and worldwide celebrity, Melanie C.

“It was all a bit of a fairytale and something I’ll never forget”

Old Edwardian, Lisa Dalton, who attended the College between the years 1993 and 1999, recently appeared on the hit BBC television show Tonight’s the Night, where she basked in the limelight alongside the former Spice Girl.

News of her appearance on the Saturday night show came as a real shock to Lisa, who was surprised by presenter John Barrowman in Allerton Library, where she was told she would be sharing the stage with her idol.

Lisa’s sister, Sharon, nominated her for the show in thanks for the support she offered when Sharon suffered the heartbreak of losing her baby daughter a few years earlier.

As thousands watched on their television screens, Lisa performed with Melanie as they sung her solo hit Baby When You’re Gone together.

“Mel C was lovely, really nice and down to earth.”

"She told me she thought I was fantastic and to keep going which was a real confidence boost.”

The LIPA graduate, who is by no means new to the stage, was once tipped for stardom by Sir Paul McCartney. At her graduation ceremony she picked up the Beatles Story prize for the person most likely to succeed from the man himself.

Her love of music and singing began from an early age, having a professional debut at the mere age of 12 in ‘A Christmas Carol’ at The Liverpool Playhouse. This fervent enthusiasm continued within the college itself and some of her favourite lessons were Drama and English taught by Miss Fitzgerald. This eventually led to Lisa of becoming an avid member of Drama club as well as going on to achieve an A* in both English and Drama at GCSE.

Lisa is now using her professional experience of over 15 years in the industry to help others to achieve. Lisa recently finished her PGCE with Masters and is a fully qualified secondary school Performing Arts teacher, she is currently teaching at St Julie’s Catholic High School in Woolton.
