Lucy Oliver, 2000-2002

14 June 2010

Lucy Oliver was a student at St Edward's from 2000-2002 and left to read English at New College, Oxford University. Discovering a keen interest in journalism, drama and the arts, Lucy experimented in acting and directing in a number of student productions before graduating to work in radio production and broadcast journalism.

For several years she took roles variously and sometimes contemporaneously as a radio newsreader, tour guide in France, actress and radio producer, before joining Move Publishing as assistant editor. For the past two years she has overseen the fortnightly property and lifestyle magazine Your Move and the bi-monthly regional property and business publication Move Commercial, sourcing, writing and editing news and features. She also chaired roundtable debates and editor's table dinners, combining business development with journalism.

Lucy writes on educational issues for Educate magazine and continues to teach on English literary, dramatic and media topics at Liverpool University. Lucy has now gone to work as a freelance journalist and will shortly be retraining as an English teacher for secondary schools in Liverpool.
