Make a Mountain Competition
16 July 2010
Photo: 7 Rice and their Models.
As part of the mapskills topic in Year 7 Geography, 7 Rice participated in a 'Make a Mountain' competition, where they had to show the different ways height can be shown on a map in a 3D model.
Models of all shapes and sizes were entered, from cardboard and plaster to Lego! Several pupils made exploding volcanoes and Thomas Holmes came second with his 'active' model which he demonstrated to parents at the recent Open Evening. The winners, however, were Izzibella Garvey and Olivia Round for their beautifully produced model. They also compiled a photo display of the making of the model at each stage.
Congratulations to all the class and to their parents for the occasional bit of help and patience !
