Pupil is youngest ever Archbishops' Award recipient

James Orrell of Year 9, has proved himself to be a true musical talent as at the age of 13, he has become the youngest person ever to be awarded the prestigious Archbishops' Award in Church Music.
James was presented with his certificate for singing by the Archbishop of Westminster at the Queen’s Chapel of the Savoy in London on Tuesday 4th October.
The qualification was instituted in 1993 and is sponsored and presented by the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Archbishop of Westminster.
This year, James has already achieved the RSCM Gold Award, the highest award a chorister can achieve, and passed his Grade 8 singing examination with distinction. He is also a very talented pianist and was recently selected as St Edward’s Poet Laureate for this academic year.
