As the Choir School to the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King, St Edward’s College has always had a very strong Choral tradition. In addition to the Cathedral Choristers, the College has several other talented choirs who perform at College concerts and various community events. The entry requirement for all but one of these College-based Choirs is simple; a commitment to and a passion for singing.
Time and again after choir performances, audiences have commented on the high standard of singing and how the talent demonstrated should be captured and enjoyed by a wider audience. During October 2015, 39 pupils took part in recording a CD in the Crypt of the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King.
The choirs who took part in this recording are: Senior Choir, which consists of pupils from Years 10-13; Pentiphony, a small group of Upper School pupils; Pop Choir, a pupil-led group consisting of pupils from all Year groups; and finally, Consort, consisting solely of Senior Pupils, entry to which is by audition only.
Pupils spent two days recording the songs which appear on the CD:
The pupils thoroughly enjoyed singing the pieces on this recording and hope you will enjoy listening to them.
If you would like to purchase a copy of the CD, priced at £6.99, you can do so via Reception at the College or online by clicking here
