Friends of St Edward's College (PTA)

We are a parent-staff committee raising monies for the direct benefit of all pupils and students at St Edward's College whilst nurturing and promoting the sense of Catholic community.

'Winter Ball 2017'

Thanks to all parents and staff who attended the much-loved event on Saturday 25 November. A delicious festive meal, magic entertainment from our DJ in between courses, raffle, fundraising games and a disco was enjoyed by all! Over £1600 was raised at the event, thank you to those parents and local businesses who donated prizes for the raffle.

'Fizz, Quiz & Chips Evening'

A ‘Quiztastic’ evening was had by all at our very first ‘Fizz, Quiz & Chips’ night on Friday 22 September. The evening started with a welcome glass of fizz and yummy nibbles and our Acting Chair provided a wonderful quiz with a picture round, blockbuster, current events and entertainment rounds and ended with a nail-biting elimination round! The winning team on the night were ‘Universally Challenged’ so congratulations to them on a very impressive score.

We were treated to a Fish n Chip Supper at halftime but these were no ordinary Fish & Chips! Oh no, not with our fabulous catering team! Handmade batter, sumptuous gravy, curry sauce, tartare sauce, lemon wedges and of course lashings of salt and vinegar and all wrapped up in ‘newspaper’. This was next level Friday night chippy tea! Thank you so much to the catering team for all their help on the evening. It was appreciated by all.

The surprise of the night was a rousing game (or rather about 20 games!) of ‘Play Your Cards Right’. A total hit with our guests (and the FOSEC team!). Eventually we had a lucky winner who scooped one of the cash prizes but we unfortunately ran out of time so the second cash prize will be up for grabs at our Winter Ball (25 November). Believe us, you do not want to miss it! All in all an amazing evening with friends, family and colleagues and a wonderful total of £810 was raised on the night so a huge thank you to all who attended and contributed.

Swing into Summer’
Our inaugural event was held in May on what should have been a gloriously sunny Saturday afternoon! Typically the heavens opened but that did not deter the wonderful parents, pupils, students, teachers, staff, family and friends who attended (260 in all!).
We were treated to the most fabulous food by the College catering team and a welcome well stocked bar! Craft tables, a cinema, an Xbox tournament, table tennis, football, basketball, and giant connect 4 kept the young (and old) happy but the star of the day
was Upper Sixth student Matthew P and his swing band. The afternoon proved so successful we will be running this event again next year. Many thanks to all who attended and a fabulous £450 was raised, not bad for our first event!
