Cathedral School
St Edward's College is the only Roman Catholic secondary Cathedral School in England, and thus has a unique place within the Catholic Church in England. Educating the cathedral choristers, who rehearse in school and lead the Cathedral’s choral worship day by day, St Edward’s has a uniquely close relationship with the magnificent Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King in Liverpool.
We feel that both the Cathedral and the School are enhanced and sustained by this special partnership, and we feel a particularly close affinity with the Cathedral. Indeed regular school celebrations are held there, whether our annual St Edward’s Day Mass, where we gather on the Sunday morning closest to St Edward’s feast day to join the Cathedral congregation for the Solemn Mass, to the Christmas Carol Service and our annual Prize Giving ceremony.
The Dean of the Cathedral is a member of the College governing body, and the Cathedral’s music staff are daily visitors to St Edward’s, for rehearsal of the choirs and to provide some aspects of individual musical tuition. Many of the Cathedral’s altar servers are pupils of St Edward’s.
